Electric vehicles (EVs) can be charged using either Alternating Current (AC) or Direct Current (DC). While AC charging is commonly used at homes and workplaces through slower but reliable charging stations, DC charging provides rapid energy delivery, making it ideal for commercial and high-demand environments.

The CCS2 (Combined Charging System Type 2) connector supports both AC and DC charging. The upper section handles AC charging with pins: PP (Proximity Pilot) to detect the cable, CP (Control Pilot) for communication, PE (Protective Earth) for grounding, L1, L2, L3 for AC phases, and N (Neutral) for return current. The lower section is for DC fast charging with DC+ and DC- supplying direct current directly to the battery.
